Project 997 Turbo

We picked up this 997 Turbo powered by the incredible Mezger engine last Fall and have been doing a healthy dose of maintenance work as well as upgrades since it made it home.  Long term goals for the car are to get near 800hp on stock internals while still being able to drive the car cross country or on a road course.....a true "do it all" car that retains all of the factory amenities including AC, heated seats, and great audio.

This first step was maintenance.....the car had only 40k miles on it, but it was still nearly 17 years old so before we dove into performance upgrades and making more power we tackled the maintenance items.  We dropped the drivetrain out and replaced all of the O-Rings and Gaskets with OEM Porsche replacements;  We also upgraded the crummy plastic OEM coolant elbows with Sharkwerks Billet Coolant Elbows and the went with Torque Solutions Billet coolant pipes and re-sealed and pinned them so we never had to worry about a failure.  We also went with a new OEM water pump and serpentine belts.  We then pulled the intake camshafts out and had Protomotive pin them so we didn't have to worry about the dreaded spun cam possibility that plagues these engines.  Of course while we did all this stuff we also changed out all the fluids with LiquiMoly and Motul.  Brand new OEM oxygen sensors were installed as well as brand new ignition coils and Bosch spark plugs so everything was operating at their best potential.  All of the brake lines were replaced with StopTech Stainless Braided lines and LiquiMoly DOT 4 fluid and while we were near we replaced all of the CV Boots and CV grease and axle seals.  

After the maintenance items were taken care of we started tackling the aftermarket upgrades.
